The goal of this research is to assess the poverty reduction condition of ethnic households in An Giang province in three areas: economy, access to social services, livelihoods, and sociocultural. The research findings show that the poverty reduction impact of tourism on ethnic households differs before and after tourism implementation, and that poverty reduction through tourism has had a significant impact on the economy, access to basic social services, and livelihoods, as well as socio-cultural aspects. In reality, participation in tourism increases family income; tourism provides more jobs than before tourism growth; tourism allows people to better access the market. Tourism assists distant households in developing their economies. People’s socio-cultural characteristics are improved by investments in energy and water infrastructure, communication networks, public transportation facilities, and entertainment activities. Furthermore, tourism helps to preserve local culture by supporting the planning of annual festivals. Tourism development has impacted ethnic minority households in An Giang province; people agree that tourism has increased the diversity of livelihood activities, decreased the number of people migrating to the city, and created opportunities for preferential credit, participation in local tourism management activities, and enhancing the role of women.
