Labour and employment are most essential concerns in national hunger elimination and poverty reduction programs. In the development strategy for young people, labour and employment issues are stated as a central position of the national poverty reduction program. Labour and employment in sub urban areas where the urbanization process occurs is a most important issue in this context.

The aims of this research is to determine structure and transfer of the labour force and career of young people in the surrounds of Can Tho City, which has been affected by urbanization:we looked at  potentiality and challenges.

Can Tho city will be a city “industry - commercial service and agricultural high technology” in 2009, but comparative labour force from agriculture to industrial service is still difficult, especially as the labour force in rural and sub-urban areas don’t have enough professional skills to satisfy industrial professional requests in local and neighboring areas. As a result, we must step up to achieve good results of process economic structure by direction industry- commercial and service of Can Tho city; enterprise use labours, to require training to improve worker’s standard at the sub-urban areas; to develop small scale village industry production trade and service. To improve the quality of the labour force by training in specialist knowledge, labour skills and industrial working style and disciplinary sense for employees.
