The ground penetrating radar (GPR) data processing takes too much time because it has many stages for calculation such as: data format, topographic correction, data filtering, amplification and some others. However, in this process, three crucial parameters including depth, position, and size of the buried objects are needed to determine. In this paper, two-dimensional continuous wavelet transform (2-D CWT) with the appropriate wavelet functions are introduced to determine the position and size of the buried objects by the wavelet transform modulus maxima (WTMM) method, to contribute enhancing the efficiency interpretation the GPR data. In addition, Kirchhoff migration method is optimized by the minimum entropy and the maximum energy standards, allowing to determine the electromagnetic wave velocity in the material. From there, the depth from the ground to the top of the buried object is also estimated. After verifying the reliability of the proposed method on the modeling data, a process for the interpretation of the GPR based on combination between the wavelet transform and the optimal algorithmis set up, and then application for analyzing the GPR data in Can Tho city.
