The purpose of this article is to examine the current status of community-based tourism development in Tan Loc islet, Can Tho by the methods of document research, field surveys and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that Tan Loc has numerous  potentials  and favorable conditions to attract tourists such as seasonal lush fruit gardens, many local folk dishes, variety of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and other unique experience activities. There are, nonetheless, still some difficulties in the process of developing community-based tourism in Tan Loc such as insufficient human resources, limited infrastructure and technical materials for tourism, overlapping tourism products, local people's income from tourism activities is insignificant, and weakness in tourism promotion.
