In 1991, Vo Van Kiet became Prime Minister of Vietnam, he held the position of Prime Minister until 1997. During this time, Vo Van Kiet made important decisions affecting the development of Vietnam after the war. He was Prime Minister during the period of Vietnam's international integration after the cold war, so under his leadership, Vietnam gradually transformed strongly in economic development.
His important decisions such as establishing diplomatic relations with the United States, economic reform, construction of a 500KV power line from North Vietnam to South Vietnam, agricultural development... have created the foundation for Vietnam developed rapidly in the 1990s.
Right now in Vietnam, Vo Van Kiet is a highly respected Prime Minister, although he died in 2008, people still remember him as the Prime Minister of the time. Vietnam's economic development period, so that Vietnam has escaped from the status of a poor country.
