This study aims to analyze the status and performance of the new agricultural cooperatives in the agricultural product value chain in Hau Giang province. Primary data collected include modern fruit tree cooperatives (jackfruit, lemon) for young cooperatives and rice cooperatives representing perennial crop cooperatives in Chau Thanh, Chau Thanh A, Vi Thuy and Nga Bay district in Hau Giang province. The study employed descriptive and comparative statistical methods to assess the current status of operations through economic indicators such as charter capital, age of cooperatives, number of members, age of the Management Board, and educational attainment and qualification. This research also uses CBA tool to analyze performance and SWOT matrix to propose solutions. The current state of cooperatives is growing in quantity and quality, creating job opportunities for its members. At the same time, cooperatives are increasingly developing in terms of service diversification, thereby bringing high profits to cooperatives and cooperative members. However, the current challenges of cooperatives are limited organizational capacity, infrastructure conditions, prices of raw materials and agricultural products, unstable export markets and low competitiveness among cooperatives. The main factors affecting the effectiveness and development of cooperatives include resources, organization and professional qualifications. Through the analysis results and the SWOT matrix, it shows that the development strategy of agricultural cooperatives should focus on diversifying forms of activities and organizing market linkages, supporting product output; increase operational capital through capital mobilization, infrastructure investment, market consolidation and scientific and technical development, and capacity building of cooperatives through training and coaching. Rice and fruit crop cooperatives need to diversify activities by strengthening linkages with processing enterprises, meeting and agreeing on prices at harvest, and signing contracts for technical assistance and 'disease coverage' with business. If they want to overcome the current weakness, cooperatives need to expand their scale, develop specific and effective plans, promote the development of more output services, and clearly assign specific tasks.
