This study investigated lecturers’ and students’ challenges in doing educational research. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Nine lecturers and fifteen students from the Mekong Delta participated in the interviews. Results indicated that participants’ difficulties in doing educational research included shortage of knowledge, experience and lack of self- study skills in doing research; complicated paperwork, especially financial settlement procedure, was found to be a big hindrance contributing to participants’ challenges in doing research in education.
