While the use of modern technological advancements such as chatbots, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics in travel planning has become widespread among many tourists, Vietnamese tourists are relatively new to such technological advancements. This prompts the question of the potential future application of Chatbots in influencing tourist behavior, particularly during the planning stage. This study aims to evaluate the adoption of chatbots in trip planning among Vietnamese tourists. The findings indicate that while other products and services are primarily discovered through word-of-mouth via friends and relatives, chatbots are predominantly encountered through websites/apps (53.91%) and advertisements (48.44%). Furthermore, over 50% of Vietnamese tourists express their interest in utilizing chatbots for their trip planning in the future. However, at present, only approximately 32.81% of respondents use chatbots for planning their trips. These results suggest that although Vietnamese tourists currently underutilize chatbots for travel planning, there is a considerable level of interest in and intention to utilize this tool for future planning.
