Bình Đại is one of the coastal districts of Ben Tre province, where saline intrusion was enlarged due to the effects of climate change. Consequently, agricultural production has been greatly impacted. Objective of this study was to evaluate the economic return of the new testing farming systems which adapt to saline- affected soil. The testing farming systems included rice – water melon in zone 1 with salinity of 10‰. Results showed that all testing new farming systems were promising systems with higher economic return in comparison to the existing systems. The two systems of rice – water melon and rice inter-cropping with prawn – shrimp were the new cropping patterns which gained highest economic efficiency. Therefore they are recommended for applying in the study area and similar areas.
