The goby Oxyeleotris urophthalmus (Bleeker, 1851, Gobiidae) is a commercial fish in Mekong Delta, Vietnam, but little is known on its length weight relationship and growth pattern. The study on the goby O. urophthalmus was investigated in Tran De to provide fundamental knowledge on the growth pattern of this goby. The sex ratio of this goby was roughly 1:1 based on data analysis of a total of 177 individuals collected at mudflats and mangrove forests by the deep gill nets from June 2015 to February 2016. The mean length of males (12.93±2.04) was not significant different from females (13.09±2.31), and the average of weight male O. urophthalmus (31.01±13.90) was roughly equal to its counterparts (32.62±16.44). The fish weight can be estimated from the fish length due to high determination values of the length and weight regression. This goby showed isometric growth as the slope values of this fish was close to the standard threshold of three, suggesting this species could be a potential fish for future aquaculture.
