The study aimed to investigate the technique and cost-benefit of three shrimp culture systems such as (1) white-leg shrimp system with organic carbon supplementary (white-leg S1), traditional white-leg shrimp system or without organic carbon supplementation (white-leg S2) and traditional balck tiger system (without organic carbon supplementation) (tiger S3). The secondary data were gathered from Fisheries Department of Ninh Thuan province. One hundred and three shrimp farmers were randomly interviewed using a structured questionnaire to determine the pond size, stocking density (shrimp/m2), survival rate, shrimp yield, feed conversion ratio (FCR), net income, and percentage of net lost farms.
White-leg S1, white-leg S2 and tiger S3 had pond size of 0.25±0.07, 0.31±0.09 and 0.32±0.07 ha, respectively. The stocking density of white-leg S1 (152±13.1 shrimp/m2) was higher than that of white-leg S2 (88.13±11.48 shrimp/m2) and tiger S3 (23.03±4.43 shrimp/m2). The technical characteristics and net incomes of these shrimp culture systems are summarized in Table 1.
