The study was conducted to determine effects of protein and lipid in diets on fish growth and quality of clown knifefish (Chitala chitala) 400g initial weight. The experiment set up with 12 dietary treatments : four dietary protein levels (25%, 30%, 35% and 40%). The results showed that fish fed with 35% dietary protein and 9% dietary lipid level reached highest weight gain (70.30 g) and daily weight gain (1.38 g/day). The carcass composition of fish was affected by protein and lipid content in the diets. The protein content had a slightly increase when protein content in the diets increase from 25% to 40%. Fat content in fish was obtained high at low protein level and 12% lipid treatments. The study did not found statistical differences about the ash and moisture content in fish among dietary treatments. Fish fed with 35% protein and 9% lipid obtained good texture in hardness and chewiness.
