In this study, hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (HA NPs) were synthesized from eggshell with a simple, easy to implement and environmentally friendly synthesis method. Hydroxyapatite/chitosan nanomaterials are used in ketoprofen drug delivery. Synthetic HA nanoparticles are taken from treated waste materials (eggshells). Besides, the synthesized HA nanoparticles were analyzed to determine the composition as well as the structure and characteristics by methods such as: FTIR, XRD, TEM and EDX. The results of X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) showed found that the material synthesized from the shell appeared the characteristic peaks of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles. In addition, the results from transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images show samples with the size of particles about 3-8 nm. X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX) also proves the presence of nano hydroxyapatite in the material sample composition, notably the chemical element components in the hydroxyapatite material sample including: Ca, P, C, O in which with the Ca/P = 1.49 ratio is close to the Ca/P = 1.67 ratio in the human body. Finally, the synthesized HA NPs/ket/alg@CS have been also observed for releasing of ketoprofen drug in environment at pH = 2.1 and pH = 7.3 with the percentage of ketoprofen drug resolution obtained respective being ~ 69.35% and 8.69% in 30 min.
