In 1998 UNESCO World Declaration on Higher Education for the twenty frst century: Vision and Action
highlighted: Social responsibility is considered as an intrinsic aspect of education system, especially
universities. Since then, university social responsibility has been concerned. The birth of this concept is a
process with different interpretations of researchers and there has not unifed concept until now. In Vietnam,
university social responsibility is a new issue so understanding the contents of this concept has crucial
meaning in theoretical and practical views.
