An investigation on the rotational tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) and integrated giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) rice farming system was carried-out in the rice fields in Gia Rai district – Bac Lieu province from 1/2014 to 12/2014 in order to find out the primary productivity, growth of shrimp, survival rate and yield at the different stocking density of shrimp at rice fields for setting-up the technical protocol and improving farmer’s income in Bac Lieu province. The result of the survey showed that the traditional culture techniques utilizing by farmers were simple, tiger shrimp at the stocking density of 3.9 ± 2.39 PL/m2 has the yield of 200.6 ± 72.8 kg/ha, the profit cost ratio of 22.3%. The yield of giant freshwater prawn in integrated rice – prawn culture system at the stocking density of 2.3 ± 0.49 Pl/m2 was 98.5 ± 32.2 kg/ha and the profit cost ratio was 111.7%. The water quality of culture systems such as water temperature, pH, DO, salinity, COD, N-NH4+, P-PO43-, Chlorophyll-a, TSS and the natural food were acceptable ranges for growth of shrimps and prawns. After four months culture of tiger shrimp, the highest survival rate (54.2 ± 9.1%), yield (635.7 ± 154.4 kg/ha), the net profit (144.09 ± 37.82 million VND/ha) and the cost benefit ratio (594 ± 62%) were in the treatment 3 PL/m2 and it was significant different with other treatments (p2 obtained the survival rate of 16.8 ± 6.9%, growth rate of 0.18 g/day, yield of 162.4 ± 55.9 kg/ha, and the cost benefit ratio of 63 ± 36%. The rotational tiger shrimp in the dry season and integrated giant freshwater prawn - rice the rainy season farming system at stocking density of 3 PL/m2 could be applied.
