One of the five crucial elements of mathematical competence, as identified by the 2018 General Education Program in Mathematics, is the capacity for mathematical thinking and reasoning. An essential body of knowledge in the curriculum, the subject of inequality has the potential to foster the growth of students’ reasoning and thinking skills. This article suggests strategies for helping good students develop their mathematical thinking and reasoning competence while learning about inequality.
