It is no doubt that the role of English for Special Purpose (ESP) becomes a key of successful engineers when Vietnam has been globally integrating in economic, society and technology. In fact, many multinational enterprises recruit engineering candidates who are not only good at knowledge but also English, especially in ESP. Most of Vietnamese universities have integrated ESP into the curriculum to adapt the requirement of society. However, the teaching and learning process of ESP deal with a lot of obstacles. This paper aims to figure out the benefits and challenges in teaching and learning EPS regarding to learning resources, engagement teaching and learning activities. The study was conducted by interviewing lecturers and students who take the ESP courses in different majors of engineering in College of Engineering Technology at Can Tho University. Moreover, some possible solutions for teaching and learning ESP more effectively are also suggested.
