Oenanthe Javanica (Blume) DC. was harvested from Can Tho suburban, then the plant was removed damaged parts, washed, and observed the essential oil bags. After that, the sample was ground and distilled essential oil by steam distillation. The chemical compositions of the essential oil were determined by GC-MS, showing that δ-terpinene and myristicin are the two components that dominate for the highest contents in the essential oil (25.97% and 24.08%, respectively). Among the other noteworthy components were methyl 4-methoxycinnamate (15.96%), b-Farnesene (9.05%), and Apiol (7.63%). In addition, a promising degree of antioxidant activity was shown by the essential oil with IC50 value = 362.74 ± 0.02 µg.mL-1. Antimicrobial activity test showed that the essential oil inhibited to 7 out of 7 tested microorganisms including Escherichia coli ATCC 25922TM, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853TM, Salmonella typhimurium ATCC 13311, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923TM, Bacillus cereus ATCC 10876TM, Listeria innocua ATCC 33090TM and fungi Candida albicans HS1. To be precise, the EO is resistant to the Candida albicans HS1 fungus even if the concentration is diluted 100 times. These results contribute to providing scientific data on Oenanthe Javanica (Blume) DC. essential oil, because up to now, most of the research has only focused on Oenanthe Javanica extracts and there have been very few publications on the essential oil of this plant
