There are many ways to encourage people, from children to adults, to save our planet. At university, students should be aware of this issue by daily activities. This paper presents a model that is referred to as one of the ways which is used to convince students to be environmentally conscious, i.e. the energy saver system collecting the waste work from cycling exercise. Such a system is not a new innovation in the developed countries, but it would be put in a new context in Vietnam generally and at Can Tho University particularly. Three clear purposes were attempted to reach for: (i) showing a simple but practical model and attracting students to play; (ii) involving of engineering technology in education of energy saving; (iii) letting behind the scene the kick-off of the perception of the world issues of protecting the earth. The result shows that the developed system has the ease and simplicity to use and to build with regarding to the local materials availability, and the charge controller has an effective characteristic in which mechatronic technology was implemented in order to collect energy at different stages of exercise. The power can be reached from 100 VA to 300 VA for a single user. The system proves immediately the user?s contribution to the converting system so that it attracts many students to try with; therefore the aim of the kick-off of the awareness of student is primarily successful.
