In the reality life shows that undeniably women are vulnerable position than men. In feudal society women are responsible for housework and caring family. However, today’s society has changed; women are increasingly asserting themselves in the role of household economy as well as contributing to the economic and social development in general. The proportion of women has both responsible for caring family and participating in socio – economic activities to generate the family income which is increasing in recent period, especially in rural households. The study attempts to determine the factors as family characteristics, individual characteristics of women and socio – economic status that affect the role of women in farm household economy in U Minh Thuong district, Kien Giang province through the average income per person of the family. Research data were collected by direct interview 178 women and men who are in labor force to generating income in the family of 2 communes in this study site by random sampling. Descriptive statistics, linear regression analysis were in the study. Research results showed that there are seven factors affecting the average income per person of the family as degree level, number of people dependents, total land area, total cash and savings, age of woman, year experience of woman and decision of women which are statistical significance. Whereas, marital status, the proportion of contribution’s women in the family income, health status of woman labor, participating women’s union, time for housewife and time for generating income that they are no statistical significance.
