GC-EAD and GC-MS analysis of a pheromone extracted from virgin females of the yellow peach moth, Conogethes punctiferalis damageding on fruit orchards in the Mekong delta concluded two components. In this mixture, (E)-10-Hexadecenal (E10-16:Ald) was the main compound with retention time was recorded at 15.15 min and 300 ?V of electron intensity. In field tests, lures mixed with E10-16:Ald and Z10-16:Ald in 9:1 ratio got the strongest effectiveness for attracting the male moth C. punctiferalis and were also significantly different from that of control. The numbers of captured males collected from them were 5 times as many as lure including only E10-16:Ald. Besides, compound E10-15:Ald presence of 5% inhibited attractive moth C. punctiferalis of sex pheromone lures.
