The Vietnam War was a major war in Asia, it took place during the Cold War. After 1954, the United States (US) began to intervene more in Vietnam and completely replaced the role of France in Vietnam. Due to the terms of the Geneva Agreement, Vietnam was divided into two North and South regions. From 1961, the US began to support the government of the Republic of Vietnam in South Vietnam to build strategic hamlets. Strategic hamlets in Vietnam refer to the strategic hamlets of Malaysia and the Philippines. During the period from 1961 to 1965, the strategic hamlet became the main system in operating the US war policy in Vietnam, which caused a lot of difficulties for the communists. In theory, the strategic hamlet is built very firmly and promises a victory for the US and South Vietnamese troops. However, it quickly revealed many weaknesses and failed before the determination of the communists in Vietnam, which was supported by the Soviet Union and China.
The article aims to analyze strategic hamlets in South Vietnam in the period from 1961 to 1965. The method is based on actual surveys, collecting data from archival centers in Vietnam since then. There are logical analyzes to shed light on an important issue of the Vietnam War.
