Tra Vinh is the coastal province in Eastern of the Mekong Delta of Vietnam with 65km coastline, marine fishing is traditional activities, it contributes sustainable livelihood for many coastal communities in many generations. However, income of the fishermen is decreased in recently years, it has negative impact to social economic of the fishermen and communities in the region. The aim of the study is to analysis the reasons for declining income and aquatic resource, its effects to local communities. The study used data from Department of Fishing and Aquatic Resource Development of Tra Vinh Province, data from fishermen and survey of the organization duration 2005-2013. Results found that the production is stable production from 45,500-59,000 tonnes per year, quantitative fishing boat was not increased in this duration (Fig.1a). Total value from marine fishing was from 15,762 to 29,446 (US$*1000) per year. The province has 105 to181 offshore fishing vessels, it was appropriately 9-19% of total fishing vessels, they include single and pair trawl nets (> 90 CV). Besides, rest of fishing gears such as inshore trawl net, gill net, trap net and bag net (< 90 CV), they are estimated over 80% of total fishing gear, these fishing boats are small and catch in the coastal regions, they have affected to aquatic resource, result found that production will be increased when enhance these quantitative fishing boats (Fig.1b). Whereas investment for offshore fishing is now hard for fishermen in aquatic resource status, solutions for this problem were discussed in the study. Furthermore, time for effort catching per trip, cost and production, species group and net profits for fishermen based on each fishing gear will be debated in the results
