Evaluating the effectiveness of the model with applying safety pest management on rice in summer-autumn 2023 at Lap Vo district, Dong Thap province
Abstract
The experiment to investigate the effectiveness of the rice farming model applying safe pest management methods on rice was carried out in the Summer-Autumn crop of 2023 in Lap Vo district, Dong Thap province with the goal of building a safe and effective pest management in rice cultivation, reducing the use of chemicals, contributes to creating safe agricultural products without pesticides and protecting the environment. The experiment was conducted in a large-scale, non-repetitive with two treatments including control (without applying curative treatment) and model (applying biological control methods and chemical method when necessary to prevent rice pests and diseases). The results showed that the mixture of Bacillus B55 and B61 controlled leaf blast and panicle blast at a density of 107 cfu/ml. For grain rot disease, model applying a phage mixture at 108 pfu/ml also showed well effectiveness in reducing the rate of infected grains. For panicle rice mite, the treatment model apply with Pseudomonas PHQ 08 has a lower damage rate than the control treatment and the treatment model with Metarhizium anisopliae also showed the ability to control whiteflies and rice leaf folders. In additiom, the percentage of filled grains in the model treatment showed significantly higher the control treatment. Regarding yield, the model also showed a higher yield withf 6.6 tons/ha and a statistically significant difference compared to the control treatment with a yield of 4.6 tons/ha. In particular, the test results on chemical residues of the product in the model treatment recorded that all active ingredients were still within the allowable residue limits of active ingredients according to European standards. Research results show that the model for applying safe plant protection solutions can be applied in current rice cultivation to meet export standards in the European market. Keywords: Bacillus spp, bacteriophage, biological control, Metarhizium anisopliae, Pseudomonas spp., safe rice cultivation.
