This paper aims at comparing the differences in rice marketing and profitability by farm-scales households in the Mekong delta with emphasis on the Co Do district. We use data collected from 96 rice households in September 2017 and employ ANOVA, chi-square test and OLS regression for data analysis. We find that demographic characteristics of three different farm size (small, medium and large) appear similarly but the large farm-size households seem to being wealthier compared to other two groups. Rice production generates most income for the three household groups and they are mostly commercially oriented and specialize in rice farming but most of them sell their output as standing crop. Rice production is profitable but small-scale households obtain relatively low income compared to other households; a large gap in income was found among them. Large farm size has positive impact on selling price received by rice households. The government should pay more attention to small rice farmers and should apply the different-level subsidy to different type of rice farmers. It should provide support for the establishment of storage facility at farm or regional levels.
