The goal of process balancing is to eliminate bottlenecks and waiting times in the production process, which leads to reduced lead times and increased productivity. In manufacturing environments, especially in furniture companies, the production process is very complex due to its characteristics. In order to make a product type as chairs, it requires multiple types of parts through different manufacturing areas and transport activities to finish it. Moreover, the processing times for each operation and transportation times are often uncertain values which can have a more significant impact on production efficiency. This paper presents a simulation model using Arena software to determine suitable resources in the furniture production process in which the uncertainty of times and multiple factors are considered. This model was then applied to a real case study on the production process of wooden chairs in the XYZ company in Binh Duong City, Vietnam. The experiments show that the proposed model provides more effective use of resources in enhancing productivity and it can easily be implemented in reality
