Soft skills training is one of the most focused educational trends today. However, there have not been many studies in Vietnam. This article focuses on the importance of developing soft skills for students in the high quality program at Can Tho University. The study used descriptive research method with a survey questionnaire and in-depth interviews to answer two research questions about the particiants' perception about essential and desired soft skills and those which should be provided during training. The results indicated that the importance of students' skills, their desires, and thereby solutions to expand students' understanding towards the proper development in cultivating and practicing soft skills.
