Four fractional extracts were obtained from the primary ethanol extracts of Helicteres hirsuta Lour., collected in Hon Son village, Kien Hai district, Kien Giang province (South Vietnam) by partitioning with solvents of increasing polarity: Petroleum ether (PE), dichloromethane (DC), ethyl acetate (EA) and methanol (ME). From the dichloromethane fractions, two compounds were isolated and idenitifed by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEPT, HSQC, MS (in reference to the literature) as: α-p-hydroxy truxillic acid (C₁₈H₁₆O₆) and 7,4ʼ-di-O-methyl-8-O-sulphate isoscutellarein (C₁₇H₁₅O₉S).
