The thermal tourism sector is evolving from traditional healthcare services to more personalized wellness experiences. This study delved into this integration, specifically examining thermal resorts in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The investigation began with a historical overview of the thermal tourism industry, emphasizing its initial medical focus. The purpose was to examine how the industry is shifting from a primarily medical approach to a more holistic, wellness-focused model that aims to enhance the overall health and happiness of tourists. The methodology involved a quantitative survey, with data collected from 300 tourists visiting thermal resorts in the region. The survey measured satisfaction levels related to the provided wellness experiences compared to traditional medical thermal services. The results confirmed a clear preference for wellness thermalism among respondents, showing higher satisfaction scores for personalized wellness services. The integration resulted in tourists experiencing a greater sense of relaxation, rejuvenation, and overall well-being. In conclusion, the shift from medical thermalism to wellness thermalism enhances tourist satisfaction by providing personalized care focusing on overall well-being and happiness. These findings underscore the potential of wellness thermalism as a key trend in the thermal tourism sector moving forward.
