This study was performed in Nam Can District, Ca Mau Province during June to November, 2015 through interviewing 45 agents that related to mud crab product, including 30 households, 5 traders, 5 granaries, and 5 retailers. The samples were randomly selected and directly interviewed by using questionnaire. The aim of this study is to describe the mud crab distribution channels in Nam Can District, Ca Mau Province. Thence, the important distribution channel (in high value of production) was selected in order to analyze value-added as well as value-added distribution among agents that participated to the distribution channels. The analysis of distribution channels, value-added within the value chains and SWOT analysis were used to analyze the effectiveness of mud crab product distribution channels in Nam Can District. The results of this study showed that the mud crab culture system was integrated with mangrove region. The average culture area was 4.9 ha, average culture density was 0.2 individual/m2, and average yield was 26 kg/ha/year. The yielded mud crab from the farms was mainly sold to the traders (with 96.7%), while a little percentage (3.3%) was sold to the granaries. The average price for mature, premature and mixed mud crab products was 232, 163, and 55 thousand VND/kg, respectively. There were four main distribution channels of mud crab products, including farmers, traders, granaries, and exporting companies. The total value-added of distribution channels for mature mud crab product was 126.8 thousand VND/kg; in which, the farmers, traders and granaries had 63.7%, 20.5% and 15.8% of total value-added, respectively; the gross income was 105.6 thousand VND/kg, in which the farmers, traders and granaries received 73%, 19.2% and 7.8% of total value-added, respectively. The total value-added of distribution channels for premature mud crab product was 92 thousand VND/kg in which the farmers, traders and granaries got 59.7%, 23.9% and 16.4% of total value-added, respectively; the gross income was 75.8 thousand VND/kg in which the farmers, traders and granaries received 72.5%, 22.7% and 4.8% of total value-added, respectively. The total value added of distribution channels for mixed crab product was 51.5 thousand VND/kg in which, the farmers, traders and granaries got 36.9%, 25.8% and 37.3% of total value-added, respectively; the gross income was 35.3 thousand VND/kg in which the farmers, traders and granaries received 53.8%, 24.1% and 22.1% of total value-added, respectively. This study results revealed that the gross income of distribution channels for mature mud crab was highest and the households received the highest level of value-added. Therefore, improving the technique that used in the commercial culture system of mud crab for producing mature mud crab products is necessary
