The aim of this study is to analyse the current situation and trend of fish product consumption of the households in Dong Thap province. The data were collected through interviewing 60 households in urban and rural areas from August to November 2015. The results showed that a number of persons per household was 4.1 persons and per capita income was 22.2 million VND. The results also indicated that fish product consumption was 5.1 kg/person/month. Households in rural areas consumed more fish products than those in the urban areas (5.4 kg và 5.0 kg respectively). Proportion of freshwater fish in fish product consumtion made up 92%. Snakehead fish, climbing perch, red tilapia and catfish are common used by the households in both areas. The amount of fish products used by per capita were influenced by the factors such as a number of persons per household, pork price, and per capita income. The main problems for fish product consumption are prices of fish products have been increased and uncertainty in quality of fish products.
