This study aimed to compare the morphology, reproductive and grow of snakeskin gourami (Trichopodus pectoralis) fromThailand, Dong Thap and Ca Mau with following contents: conditioning broodstock, breeding, rearing larvae in plastic lined tank and growing out in hapas placed in pond.
The results showed that Thai snakeskin strain had many different variants better than two strains from Dong Thap and Ca Mau. These morphometric parameters included total length, standard length, body height, ratio between total length and standard length, ratio between body height and standard length, ratio between body height and caudal peduncle length.
The Thai strain gave the best values of number of egg per spawned (205,33±0,58 eggs/g), fertilization rate (87,33±0,58%) and hatching rate (92±1%), comparing with Dong Thap (194,33±0,58 eggs/g; 82,67±0,58%; 89±1%) and Ca Mau strains (189,67±0,58 eggs/g; 81,67±0,58%; 88±1%).
For nursing larvae in plastic lined tank, the lowest values of growth and survival rate of Thai strain were 14,44±0,25%; 397,43±9,15 g/m2. The highest growth and survival rate were Ca Mau strain with value of 21,64±0,45%; 512,34±12,09 g/m2. For growing out in hapas placed in pond, the results showed that Thai strain gave the highest values in survival rate (80,07±0,12%) and and biomass production (1.494,61±22,81 g/m2). The lowest data was Ca Mau strains which gave the lowest values (79,86±0,12% in survival rate and 1.310,52±1,3 g/m2 in biomass production).
