Reasearch the effect of dietary carotenoid supplement on the pigmentation of clownfish Amphiprion ocellaris was conducted in at hatchery, Department of Freshwater Aquaculture, Colleege of Aquaculture and Fisheries - Can Tho University. The objective of research is to determine the content of carotenoid supplementation on the proper food to increase the pigments of clownfish.
The first experiment, Canthaxanthin powder was added at different concentrations of 0, 100, 200, 300mg /kg feed in the diets of clownfish. Red clownfish achieve the best results in the treatment of Canthaxanthin supplementation 300mg Canthaxanthin/kg feed with scores of sensory evaluation is 2,99/4,00 (scores) and also the fish group anemo was everyone’s favorite (3,00/4,00 scores). Deposition of the carotenoids anemo fish is highest (0.452±0.0114). Survival and growth of clownfish are not unaffected by Canthaxanthin content in food supplements.
The second experiment, Astaxanthin was added to feed at different cancentrations of 0, 100, 200, 300 mg Astaxanthin/kg feed in diets of clownfish. Results showed that the color of clownfish differ between treatments. Red of fish achieved in the treatments of feed supplements 300mg Astaxanthin/kg feed is 3,29/4,00 (scores) and carotenoids deposition in fish muscle is 0.553±0.0144) and also the color group favorite with sensory evaluation scores is 2,95/4,00 (scores). When added to food Astaxanthin not affect the survival and growth of clownfish.
