This study was conducted to determine the effect of different feeds on maturation of orange finned loach (Botia modesta Bleeker, 1865). It was randomly designed with duplicate treatments corresponded with four kinds of feed including Macrobrachium lanchesteri, trash fish, commercial feed, and the mixture of trash fish (50%) and commercial feed (50%). Experimental fish 15-20 g initial weight were stocked into 8 hapas (1m3) with the stocking density of 60 fish/m2. The fish were fed at 3% of body weight during the first month and 2% from the second month. Fifteen fish were collected at the beginning and 7 fish of each hapa were monthly sampled to determine fat content, maturation rate, the Gonado Somatic Index (GSI), and fecundity. Furthermore, vitellogenic content in tissue, muscle, liver, gonad, and plasma were also analyzed. GSI of female fish was highest and lowest in treatment I (3.45%) and treatment II (0.61%), respectively. GSI were no significant differences (P>0.05) among four treatments. The maturation rate were highest (64.29%) in treatment I and lowest (21.43%) in treatment III. The more results will be supplemented in the full paper.
