Fishing status in the flood season was studied from August to Decemeber 2014 to evaluate the fishing gear, CPUE, and species composition in the flood region along to Hau river, it includes in the upstream: An Giang (AG), Dong Thap (DT) and mid-stream: Can Tho (CT) and Vinh Long (VL) provinces in Viet Nam. 160 households were surveyed to see the fishing status, CPUE. Besides, regularly sampling is also conducted every two weeks on trammel net, and long fence trap net. The aim is to identify species component, size and regression between various water level and CPUE in each type of fishing gear in each region. These two types of fishing gear covered over 90% of total fishing gears in the region. Result found that water level in the upstream and midstream of the rice field was 40-120 cm and 30-60 cm respectively. Moreover, it identified 59 species in upstream and 40 species in midstream. In addition, results also found that illegal fishing gears are developing and mesh size of net is gradually smaller in all fishing geara. At the present, aquatic resources has declined about 50-70% compare with 10 years ago, because of using pesticide in agricultural farming system, less flood in recent years. The dykes have been being built to prevent flood for agriculture development, it also causes negative impacts to aquatic resources. There is little regression between yield and various flood levels(R2=0.3-0.4).
