ABSTRACT

Zeolite A, a white powder, was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of activated kaolin (metakaolin) derived from commercial kaolin, a low cost mineral, with  sodium aluminate. In this study, the effects of added quantity of sodium aluminate, concentrations of sodium hydroxide solutions on the characteristics of zeolite A and the yield of the product have been studied. The morphology of zeolite A crystals was determined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and it was shown that particles had a cubic shape, characteristics of standard zeolite A.

Zeolite A, là sản phẩm bột màu trắng, được tổng hợp bằng phản ứng thủy nhiệt kaolin hoạt hóa (metakaolin), sản phẩm chuyển hóa của kaolin thương mại, một loại khoáng có giá rẻ, có bổ sung sodium aluminate. Trong nghiên cứu này, ảnh hưởng của lượng sodium aluminate thêm, nồng độ dung dịch sodium hydroxide trên hình dạng và hiệu suất sản phẩm được nghiên cứu. Hình dạng của zeolite A được xác định bằng ảnh hiển vi điện tử quét (SEM). Kết quả cho thấy chúng có hình lập phương đều, đặc trưng của zeolite     A chuẩn.
