Amorphous nanosilica particles in this study were synthesized from rice husk ash by precipitation method, with yield of 80.63%. The nano-particles were introduced as an effective adsorbent for organic pollutant removal. The particles are spherical with a size of 15 – 20 nm and highly pure. BET surface area and pHzpc of nanosilica particle were measured as 62.47 m2/g and 1.7, respectively. The experimental results show that nanosilica particles could remove around 80% methylene blue dye (MB) within the first minute by adsorption. The adsorption is concerned as monolayer physisorption onto a heterogeneous surface with maximum adsorption capacity of 88.50 mg/g at 29 °C. Optimum condition for the adsorption of MB was found at pH 6.0, contact time of 30 min, particle mass of 0.1 g, MB initial concentration of 55 mg/L at 29 °C.
