A research on effects of crop and variety on biomass productivity and chemical composition of maize was conducted in Bui Huu Nghia ward, Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city. The objective of the study was to assess the effects of crop and variety on biomass yield and chemical composition of two maize hybrids. The experiment was designed in a 2*2 factorial arrangement with three replicates. The first factor is the planting crop (dry and rainy season) and the second is maize hybrids (forage maize and fodder maize from white maize for human consumption). Analysis parameters include: germination rate, yield and chemical composition of the two maize cultivars. Fodder maize was the highest germination rate (73.65%) while forage maize was 58.56%. Maize in dry season has a germination rate of 86.41%, higher than the rainy season (45.80%). Crop and variety influences on growth rate, fresh matter yield and chemical composition of maize (Pvariety, biomass has a higher yield of green matter and chemical composition than fodder maize. Maize biomass yielded DM, DM yield and CP yield were 50.76, 19.94 and 2.91 tons/ha, respectively. Fodder maize grown in the dry season has the highest DM yield (22.65 tons/ha). In the interaction between crop and maize variety, the yield of green matter, chemical composition of maize was not statistically significant, except DM yield was different (P
