Currently, transportation prices in Vietnam are much higher than in other countries in the world. One of the main reasons is that there is a great number of trucks are empty on the direction of return. The current solutions only focus on introducing customers’ orders to the truck owners. However, constraints related to empty return trucks such as limited payloads, types of goods that can be transported, selection of orders, constraints on the return route of the trucks and arrival time at depart point have not been addressed. This paper focuses on developing an optimization model for orders selection and route planning for return trucks to maximize the profit. The problem is modeled by integer linear programming and solved by CPLEX. A numerical example is conducted, which shows that the proposed model can suggest the optimal solution for orders selection and shortest routes to deliver the selected orders. Further, sensitivity analyses are performed to exam the influence of considered factors.
