To determine the effects of nitrogen fixing Pseudomonas stutzeri and phosphate solubilizing Pseudomonas sp. on the growth of rice cultivated in acid sulphate soil contaminated with saline water, a greenhouse and a field experiment were conducted. The results in the greenhouse showed that inoculated rice with P. stutzeri and supplemented with 50% amount of inorganic nitrogen fertilizer and 100% of phosphorus one helped to increase root length 19.17%, dry weight of root 23.92%, number of shoot 3.65%, dry weight of shoot 19.7% compared to rice received 100% amount of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers. When inoculated rice with P. stutzeri and Pseudomonas sp. and supplemented with 50% of both nitrogen fertilizer and phosphorus one, root length increased 16.3% and there was not significantly different in dry weight of root. In the field, inoculated rice with P. stutzeri and supplemented with 50% amount of inorganic nitrogen fertilizer and 100% of phosphorus one had the increase of root length 15.78% and dry weight of root 3.65% and there was not significant difference on the length of rice spikelet and the yield between inoculated rice and rice receiving 50% amount of inorganic nitrogen fertilizer and 100% of phosphorus one. When inoculated rice with P. stutzeri and Pseudomonas sp. and supplemented with50% of both nitrogen fertilizer and phosphorus one, root length increased 6.55% but there was not significant difference on the dry weight of root, the length of rice spikelet and the yield of both inoculated and uninoculated ones. So, when growing rice in this acid sulphate soil contaminated with saline water, farmers should inoculated rice seeds with P. stutzeri and Pseudomonas sp. and supplemented with 50% amount of inorganic nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers.
